HC orders maintenance of excavated trenches in Ayodhya
Lucknow, Aug 29: The Allahabad High Court hearing the Ram janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suits today ordered proper maintenance and upkeep of the excavated trenches at the disputed site in Ayodhya to facilitate inspection by experts of the parties in the case.

The order was passed by the Lucknow bench of the high court while disposing of applications moved by the authorized person and the Sunni central WAQF board.
All the 90 excavated trenches made by the ASI shall be kept in tact, preserved and maintained as they are so as to enable the parties and their experts to inspect the site for the purpose of filing their objections, if any, against the report submitted by the ASI, the special full bench, comprising Justice S R Alam, Justice Bhanwar Singh and Justice Khemkaran said.
The court also directed the ASI to depute two archaeologists, who were associated with the excavation work, for inspection of the trenches to ensure its proper maintenance and upkeep. But they shall not visit the excavated site except for any purpose other than as provided in the directions given by the court.
The court ordered that except the persons authorized by this order or by any other express order of this court, no person shall be allowed to enter the excavated area.
