National awards: Devgan, Konkana bag top honours
New Delhi, July 26: Ajay Devgan has won the best actor and Konkona Sen Sharma the best actress award in the 50th National Film Awards announced here today.
New Delhi, July 26: Ajay Devgan has won the best actor and Konkona Sen Sharma the best actress award in the 50th National Film Awards announced here today.
Devgan won the best actor award for his role in the Legend of Bhagat Singh.
Konkona Sen bagged the best actress award for her role in Mr and Mrs Iyer.
Konkona`s mother Aparna Sen won the best director award for Mr and Mrs Iyer, which was adjudged the best feature film on national integration.
Buddadeb Dasgupta`s Mondo Meyer UpaKhyan has got the best film award. `Devdas", Sanjay Leela Bhansali`s Rs 50 crore magnum opus - a remake of the Saratchandra classic - got awards for best art direction (Nitin Chandrakant Desai), costume designing (Neeta Lulla, Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla), choreography (Saroj Khan - Dola re Dola), and female playback singer (Shreya Ghoshal - Bairi Piya).
A R Rehman won the best music director award for Kannathil Muthamittal directed by Mani Ratnam, which was adjudged the best feature film in Tamil. Vairamuthu also got the best lyrics award for the film.
Best child artist award was shared by Shweta Prasad who played twin sisters in Makdee and Keertana, who gave a heartrending portrayal of a girl in search of her mother in Kannathil Muthamittal.
