New Delhi, Aug 19: NCP member and former Lok Sabha speaker P A Sangma today threatened to go on an indefinite fast in front of Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani's residence if steps were not taken to fill government jobs in Delhi reserved for tribals within a week.
"I will go on an indefinite hunger strike in front of Deputy Prime Minister's residence if steps are not taken to fill government jobs in delhi reserved for scheduled tribes people," Sangma said while participating in the debate on the Congress-sponsored no-confidence motion against the Vajpayee government.
Quoting election manifesto of theNDA government which promised that it was committed to bring tribals in the national mainstream, Sangma said that he had met the Home Minister several times for his intervention to fill those government jobs meant for tribals but nothing was done.
His meeting did not yield any result, Sangma said, adding, "Thousands of government posts reserved for tribals are being kept in abeyance in delhi, the capital of India."
