Naga MLAs in Manipur asked to sign declaration
Imphal, Oct 24: Naga MLAs in Manipur have been asked to sign a `declaration` assuring that they would support integration of Naga-settled areas in north eastern region, an official report said today.
Imphal, Oct 24: Naga MLAs in Manipur have been asked to sign a 'declaration' assuring that they would support integration of Naga-settled areas in north eastern region, an official report said today.
The United Naga Council (UNC), which distributed copies of the 'declaration', asked the MLAs to submit it after signing latest by tomorrow and added that these copies were to be sent to the Centre and NSCN(IM).
So far no Naga MLA has signed the 'declaration' but they all were being pressured to do so by tomorrow, the report said.
A copy of the 'declaration' was to be submitted to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee when he visits Nagaland this month end.
The 'declaration' also asked the Naga MLAs to support the ongoing peace process and to urge the concerned parties to expedite it, besides demanding the political integration of Nagas by removing what it termed 'arbitrary boundaries', the report said.

So far no Naga MLA has signed the 'declaration' but they all were being pressured to do so by tomorrow, the report said.
