Rome, June 22: Saadi Kadhafi, son of Libyan leader Mouammar Kadhafi, could be playing in Italy's serie A with Perugia next season after the club announced yesterday he will sign a one-year contract next Sunday.
Initially interested in just training with the team Kadhafi has now changed his mind and "can't wait to start playing in Italy's top flight", according to his spokesman, Gianluca Di Carlo.

Football-mad Kadhafi, 30, played for Libyan club Al-Ittihad and has always followed Italian football closely.
He owns a small stake in serie A champions Juventus and was linked with a move to buy cash-strapped Rome giants Lazio earlier this year.
Perugia's flamboyant president Luciano Gaucci, who has taken Kadhafi under his wing, has made a name for himself by signing lesser known foreign players who have gone on to become big stars.

He signed Japan international Hidetoshi Nakata, later sold for a huge profit to AS Roma before he moved to Parma, and South Korea's Ahn Jung Hwan, scorer of the golden goal that knocked Italy out of last summer's World Cup.

Ahn left the club in a storm of controversy after he was accused of betraying Italy by scoring the goal which knocked the Italians out of the competition.

Kadhafi junior is also vice-president of his national federation and is bidding to become president of the African Football Confederation.
