Allahabad, July 16: The district administration today imposed National Secrutiy Act against jailed U P legislator Atiq Ahmad in connection with a case registered against him for allegedly hatching a conspiracy of a fake bid on his own life on way to the district court for appearance in a case on August seven last year, police said here. The notice signed by district magistrate S.P Goel regarding invoking of NSA against Ahmad, was served to him by police at Naini Central Jail, S P Lalji Shukla told.
The controversial legislator from Allahabad(West) constitutency had allegedly hatched a conspiracy by directing one of his henchman Eklaq Ahmad to hurl two crude bombs at him while he was being taken to the district court, he said.
Stating that the incident had led to largescale violence in several localities in the city, Shukla said a case had been registered against ahmad at Dhoomangaj police station charging him with breaching peace in the district.
Atiq Ahmad, a former president of Apna Dal, is currently incarcerated in Naini Central Jail in connection with more than a dozen cases. Bureau Report
