New Delhi, Nov 06: Two days after they approached the
Lok Sabha speaker and the Election Commission for retention of
their identity, the Samata Party today revoked the expulsion
of two rebel MPs Raghunath Jha and Brahmanand Mandal and two
Bihar MLA’s Ganesh Paswan and Bhai Virender with immediate
effect.
Party President George Fernandes has revoked the
expulsion of the four leaders, party General Secretary Shiv
Kumar said in a press release.
The move is seen as blocking Jha and Mandal's plan of
seeking to retain their identity as Samata Party MPs in the
Lok Sabha in the context of party's decision to merge with the
Janata Dal (United) last week.
They also wanted the Election Commission to allow them to
use the name and symbol of Samata Party.
Consequently, their membership of the National Executive
was also restored and they would enjoy all the rights of a
member of the Samata Party, the spokesman said.
