Jabalpur, Oct 28: Madhya Pradesh High Court today adjourned till November four, a petition seeking contempt of court proceedings against Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi and eight others. Advocate Devendra Dev Shukla, hailing from Raipur, in his petition, alleged that Jogi had made use of a particular portion of an earlier High Court verdict to corroborate his `tribal status' in newspapers on the same day the Shahdol Court held that he (Jogi) was not a tribal but a scheduled caste.
Justice Rajeev Gupta and Justice S L Jain listed the preliminary hearing on November 04 after counsel for petitioner sought time to argue the matter.
The petitioner stated that Jogi got published only `some portion' of the verdict in his favour in September last to `impress' people that the lower court judgement had been stayed or junked.
Besides Jogi, the petitioner has prayed for initiating action against eight others, including Chhatisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee president Ramanuj Lal Yadav, convener of the legal cell of CPCC J N Thakur, editor Navbharat (Raipur edition) Shyam Betal, editor Dainik Bhaskar (Raipur edition) D M Bodh and editor Deshbandhu (Raipur edition) Lalit Surjan.
It may be recalled that some years ago, the Madhya Pradesh High Court had given Jogi a clean chit regarding his tribal status.
