Islamabad, Sept 15: Ahead of his crucial visit to the US, Pakistan President Gen Pervez Musharraf today held a meeting with army corps commanders to take stock of the situation along the country's border. Views on international and regional situation were exchanged and situation along the Line of Control, working boundary and the eastern and western borders were discussed at the meeting held at the army headquarters at Rawalpindi, an official release said here.

The corps commanders meet, which Musharraf periodically holds was considered to be highest policy making body due to heavy influence of army over Pakistan's power structure. On the Domestic Front, the corps commanders meeting is believed to have discussed the impasse between the government and the opposition over the legality of Gen. Musharraf's presidency and his controversial constitutional amendments.

The meeting was held as Musharraf geared up to go to New York later this week to address the UN General Assembly session. The focal point of his visit was however his meeting with US President, George Bush on Sept 21 during which a host of issues including, Indo-Pak peace process, escalation of violence in Jammu and Kashmir, rise of Taliban militia and allegations of Afghanistan government that Pakistan extended tacit support to Taliban are expected to dominate.
