Mumbai, Aug 04: China and other countries in the world will experience a shortage of technical and IT skilled manpower in the medium to long-term period, which would be
beneficial for India, according to National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) president Kiran Karnik.
"The dearth will be severe in China and other Asian nations, even though it would be felt in the western countries as well," Karnik said while addressing a seminar on `Is India capitalising on IT for economic growth', organised jointly by NASSCOM.
China would alone need 10 million qualified hands in the next 10-15 years, he said adding, that country would look to India to fill up this gap.
The high-level of education and availability of skilled workforce in India would help IT to cash in on this manpower shortage, he added.
The dearth would be felt in engineering, software development and other related segments, he added.
