Jaipur, Nov 17: Nearly one fourth the population of 22 drought-hit villages in Phagi Tehsil of this district has left in search of work and food elsewhere, a non-governmental organisation claimed today after a survey. The NGO, 'Vishakha', said of the total 24,000 people living in the villages, more than 5,250 had migrated in search of work. At least 156 families had not even one member staying back in the villages, it said. In a report presented at a conference here, the NGO said there was a shortage of fodder and handpumps in the area. Of a total 102 handpumps surveyed, only 28 were in working condition in the villages, it added. Bureau Report
