The actor, who bid farewell to 11-year run as Dr. Derek Shepherd with a car accident plot, ironically happens to be a car racer, and will now be focusing entirely on racing, as he takes on his first full season of the FIA World Endurance Championship at the wheel of a Porsche 911 RSR, Fox News reported.

At the event, Dempsey said that he had made a lot of sacrifices and was too busy things, but now, being at this level, had to train and eat properly, giving his full commitment.

Dempsey and co-drivers Patrick Long and Marco Seefried are already testing in Bahrain, in preparation for the season finale in November, and the actor will take part in the 2nd round of the FIA WEC at Spa-Francorchamps, the final race prior the double points-paying 24 Hours of Le Mans, making his 4th appearance in the French endurance classic.
