Two TSR jawans killed, three injured in militant attack in Assam
Agartala, Sept 23: Two jawans of Tripura State Rifles (TSR) were killed and three others injured in an attack by militants on their camp at Shermuntila in north district while a wanted Attf ultra was killed in an encounter with the Assam Rifles at Duski in the WUSU district today.

The TSR camp was attacked at around 9 am by suspected NLFT ultras, who fired from sophisticated weapons killing two jawans on the spot. Three others were injured and arms and ammunition were looted, the police said.
The jawans retaliated and the attackers fled but the police suspected that the camp in-charge Rohit Miah, absconding since the killing was involved in the attack.
The TSR jawans were members of a platoon deployed at Shermuntilla under Pencharthal police station of the district to guard a microwave repeater station.

The police superintendent of the district Sourav Tripathy has rushed to the spot with reinforcement, the police said.
In separate incident, a wanted ultra of the banned ATTF who carried a cash reward of Rs one lakh on his head, was today killed in an encounter with Assam Rifles at Duski in West Tripura district.
The encounter took place when a grenade was hurled at a patrol party of the Assam Rifles at Duski, a hilly and wooded area, by militants.
The jawans too opened fire and later recovered the bullet riddled body of the insurgent near the spot.
