Karnal (Haryana), Oct 18: Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will today lay the foundation stone of expansion project of Panipat Refinery and Petrochemical unit at Khora Kheri village here. After Panipat Refinery's expansion, there would be no shortage of petroleum products in the region, Union Minister of State for Home I D Swami, said. A refinery official said the project would cost around Rs 10,000 crore. Currently, the capacity of the refinery at Panipat is six million metric tonnes per annum, the official said, adding that with the completion of the project the capacity of the refinery would be doubled.
Swami said the Prime Minister is also expected to address a public meeting at Panipat. Bureau Report
