Kohima, May 19: Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the BJP's youth wing, has expressed serious concern over the increasing presence of "illegal migrants", particularly in Dimapur district of Nagaland and said that the hill state with its limited resources and infrastructure does not have the capacity to handle such massive influx of "foreign nationals". BJYM said in a statement that the increasing presence of illegal migrants was posing a serious threat to the peace, stability, security and development of Dimapur in particular, and the state in general.

Calling upon the people not to harbour illegal migrants, the Yuva Morcha attributed the main cause of unchecked influx to cheap labour, lack of proper co-ordination in issuing and monitoring inner line permits and lack of suitable administrative infrastructure to handle the alarming problem of illegal migrants. It also appealed to various NGOs and political parties in the state to make a concerted effort to curb the influx and keep strict vigil on enrolment of names of such people in the voters' list.

The BJYM demanded a review of the electoral rolls in order to delete the names of illegal migrants and strict enforcement of ILP by the authority concerned in the best interest of the state.
