Tirupur, Sept 04: DMK, a key NDA ally, today cautioned the Centre that it would have to "face the consequences" if it failed to heed party's demand to repeal Pota. "I have nothing to lose. They (NDA) have to face the consequences," DMK president M Karunanidhi said commenting on BJP president Venkaiah Naidu's remarks ruling out repeal of the anti-terror act.
Asked why the Centre was not heeding to the DMK request, Karunanidhi said DMK had expressed its views on the need to repeal the act, which was allegedly put to "gross misuse" against political leaders in Tamil Nadu. "But they (the Centre) are remaining firm on their stand", he said.
"No one has the clarity," the DMK leader said when asked about Union Minister of State for Non-Conventional Energy Sources M Kannappan's remarks that the Pota review committee was not clear about its powers. Observing that DMK, PMK and MDMK had supported Pota, following an assurance from Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, in Parliament that the Centre would not allow the misuse of the act by any states, Karunanidhi said that his party had to seek Pota's withdrawal, due to gross misuse' in Tamil Nadu.
