Mumbai, Jun 02: The case of alleged nexus between Bollywood and underworld, in which Bharat Shah is the prime accused, resumed in a special court here today with deposition of a top police officer who headed the investigation. Deputy commissioner of police, Pradeep Sawant stepped into the witness box and deposed on investigations made regarding the role played by accused Bharat Shah, Nasim Rizvi, Mohammad Shamsuddin and Abdul Rahim Allah Baksh in the conspiracy hatched by the underworld to target film personalities.
So far, 74 witnesses have deposed in the case while the then additional commissioner of police Anil Dhere and ACP S S Kamble were yet to appear. Except Bharat Shah, all accused were present in the court. Shah has gone abroad with the permission of the court to promote his diamond business and would return on June 8. About 14 witnesses from Bollywood, including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Mahesh Manjrekar and Sanjay Gupta, have turned hostile in the case. Bureau Report
