Washington, Nov 11: US Vice President Dick Cheney
and White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card were briefly
evacuated from the White House after a tourist plane violated
an aerial security zone over the residence.
"A small private plane violated the TFR (Temporary
Flight Restricted) zone," put in place after September 11,
2001, around 1115 hrs (2145 IST yesterday), secret service
spokeswoman Ann Roman said.
"It was intercepted and escorted out of the zone," by
military jets a few moments after it had broached the secure
zone, Roman explained adding that the tourist plane's pilot
had fully cooperated with the authorities.
The security scare sparked an emergency evacuation
within the White House forcing the temporary evacuation of
Cheney and card, roman said.
