Imphal, June 11: Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Sing today said the force deployment in the insurgency-hit state was not adequate and asked for more forces to bring law and order under control. Talking to mediapersons here, Singh said Central forces, which had been withdrawn because of Kargil conflict had not returned here. Because of lack of forces, the insurgency and law and order problem could not be tackled effectively, he said.
Singh said Manipur's situation was different from other states because more than 24 underground organisations were operating in the state and insurgency could not be taken as mere law and order problem. The chief minister said he had urged the Prime Minister and the Union home minister to send more Central forces to tackle the problems in the state. Bureau Report
