NY, May 05: Just over a month after its release, Usher's chart-topping album, "Confessions," has been certified triple-platinum for U.S. shipments in excess of three million copies by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The R&B singer's first release in three years has been lodged at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 for five consecutive weeks. Two singles from the LaFace/Arista set are in the top 10 of the Hot 100 -- "Yeah!" has been No. 1 for 11 weeks, while "Burn" is in its second week at No. 2. "Confessions Part II" is No. 28 and moving up the chart.
Rapper Nelly's debut Fo Reel/Universal album, "Country Grammar," originally issued in June 2000, the album was certified by the RIAA for shipments of 9 million copies. Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band's 1994 Capitol "Greatest Hits" set reached the seven-times platinum plateau.
Other notable multi-platinum marks were reached by Evanescence's Wind-Up Records debut, "Fallen" (5 million); Kenny Chesney's BNA release "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problem" (4 million); "Tim McGraw & the Dancehall Doctors" (Curb) and the 14th volume in the "NOW! That's What I Call Music!" series (3 million); and Luther Vandross' J Records set "Dance With My Father" and Jessica Simpson's Columbia album "In This Skin" (2 million).
Kanye West earned his first platinum album in April for 1 million copies shipped of "The College Dropout." The artist's Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam debut is No. 10 on The Billboard 200 after bowing at No. 2 on the chart in February.
Other newly minted platinum titles in April were Led Zeppelin's "Early Days & Latter Days: Vol. 1 & 2" (Atlantic), Michael W. Smith's "I'll Lead You Home" (Reunion), Third Day's "Offerings" (Essential), Brooks & Dunn's "Red Dirt Road" (Arista Nashville), the "A Walk To Remember" soundtrack (Epic) and the self-titled 1976 Firefall album (Warner Strategic Marketing).
