Washington: Thrashing up all the media speculations HBO's -darker-than-noir thriller 'True Detective' season 2, which was premiered on June 21, will feature entirely new cast.

According to USA Today, in the second season, a barbaric murder brings together three law-enforcement officers, played by Taylor Kitsch, Rachel McAdams, and Colin Farrell and a stony criminal played by Vince Vaughn.


The story revolves around the corrupt cop Ray Velcoro played by Farell who fits right-in with the muted, washed-out colors, the gritty scenery, the poverty and filth.


Nic Pizzolatto, creator of the American thriller series asserted that this time, the show's structure is more traditional, and everything is different in Season 2 except the cinematic aesthetic and underlying tone.


Last season, which starred Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey in a story that spanned 17 years , earned critical kudos and a slew of Emmy and Golden Globe nominations, becoming one of HBO's most-watched shows, with a combined viewership of 11.9 million.
