Lucknow, Nov 11: The BJP today petitioned the Uttar Pradesh Assembly speaker for disqualification of 10 of its dissident MLAs under the anti-defection law. BJP legislature party leader and urban development minister Lalji Tandon met speaker Kesrinath Tripathi and urged him to disqualify the ten dissident MLAs who had signed the nomination papers of arms dealer Suresh Nanda in the Rajya Sabha elections.

Tandon contended that by proposing Nanda`s name the dissidents have attracted the provisions of disqualification under the anti-defection law and should accordingly be disqualified from the house.
Tandon said the speaker told the BJP delegation that he would give notice to the rebel MLAs seeking their comments before deciding on any action.
The ten MLAs are : Kovid Kumar Singh, Mayankeshwar Saran Singh, Ravindra Singh Pundir, Anil Verma, Dayashankar Verma, Narendra Verma, Rampratap Singh, Ganga Bux Singh, Badshah Singh and Chandramani Kant Singh.
