India Wednesday remained non-committal on the possibility of a meeting between Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf on the sidelines of SAARC summit scheduled in Kathmandu from January four to six next. “I will leave it at what the prime minister has said (in this regard),” foreign secretary Chokila Iyer told reporters when asked whether there was any possibility of a meeting between the two leaders on the sidelines of SAARC summit.
Vajpayee had earlier said, “If I go to Kathmandu and if Musharraf also comes there, then there is a possibility of the two meeting in formally (chalte chalte)”. Iyer said as of now the seven-nation SAARC summit stands and the Nepalese government had also stated that they would go ahead with the summit.
