New Delhi, Dec 24: Delhiites woke up to their share of problems today as the entire national capital was covered in dense fog resulting in disruption of air, rail and road traffic.
The mercury came down to seven degree celsius during the night, one degree below the normal, resulting in biting cold, the Met office said.
Air traffic, both international as well as domestic, virtually came to a standstill after 0230 hrs as fog enveloped the runway bringing down the visibility to less than 60 metres, airport sources said.
The rail traffic was also disrupted and vehicles were moving on a snail's pace with motorists putting on headlights to wade through the dense fog, which reduced the visibility on Delhi roads to below 100 metres.
