Bangalore, Nov 03: The popular three-day "Hampi Utsav" will commence at historic Hampi, the seat of erstwhile Vijayanagara empire, from today.
All arrangements had been made for the utsav which would be inaugurated by Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna, Minister for Kannada and Culture Rani Satish told reporters here.
This cultural festival at Hampi, a world heritage site, would involve an expenditure of Rs 35 lakh, out of which Rs five lakh would be borne by the State Tourism Department, she said.
A proposal of Rs 15 lakh had been sent to the Centre while the rest would be taken care of by the Kannada and Culture Department, she said.
"We have also been seeking private aid for the utsav", she said. The unique feature of the utsav this time would be a "son-et-limiare" (sound and light) show on Vijayanagar empire, which would be inaugurated by Union Tourism Minister Jagmohan on November four, she added.
