Nov 18: Ernie Els's bunker shot at Muirfield's 13th hole on the final day of the Open Championship has been voted the European Tour's Shot of the Year for 2002. The South African displayed superb touch as he splashed out to within inches of the hole to secure his par three and continue his momentum towards his first Open title.

"I always felt it was my destiny to win the (British) Open at least once in my career," the world number three told the Tour's official website.
"When I birdied the 10th and 12th that Sunday at Muirfield, I felt I was well on my way to doing just that.
"But I was caught between clubs and tugged my seven iron just a touch at the 13th.
"The ball was tight against the face of the bunker and just getting it out, never mind close, would have been a reasonable result.
"I pulled out my 59 degree sand wedge - I was amazed I got it out and almost holed it.
"It was a really, really good save and unquestionably helped me win the Open."
Els eventually won the title when he defeated France's Thomas Levet at the first hole of a sudden-death play-off.
Australians Stuart Appleby and Steve Elkington were eliminated in an initial four-hole play-off.
