Jaipur, June 11: Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati today said efforts were on to resolve the Ayodhya imbroglio including finding a solution to some of the questions raised by the Muslim community. But Muslim groups have strongly denied any such involvement in talks with the seer. "We are making efforts. During the talks, two-three questions have arisen including opening ASI protected mosques for prayers. It could be resolved through talks," the seer told reporters here. But Muslim groups have reacted sharply -- describing as `wrong` and `baseless` that talks are on, stressing that the matter be left for the judiciary to decide. "I don`t know which responsible Muslim organisation or leader has favoured it," All India Muslim personal law board convenor S Q R Ilyaas said. All India Milli Council leader M Manzoor Alam said the assessment of the Kanchi seer was "wrong". All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM) president Syed Shahabuddin said the Kanchi Seer should reveal with which Muslim organisation or individual he was holding talks. "I can say he is not holding any talks with any responsible or authorised Muslim organisation or individual," he said and added "agreements reached in dark rooms with unknown people will not resolve the matter." The pontiff raked a controversy on Sunday when he credited former prime minister P V Narasimha Rao for installation of Ram Lalla idol in a makeshift temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya. "(Former prime minister) P V Narasimha Rao has done `punya` (noble deed) by installing an idol (of Ram Lalla) in a makeshift temple. That credit goes to him only and not to anyone else," he had said on Sunday in the presence of Prime Minister Vajpayee, Rao and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi at a function to mark 50 years of his `peetarohana` (ascendency) to the high seat. The pontiff said Ayodhya was not a place for dispute and even though outside forces fight, the locals did not want any discord. The pontiff had remarked that Muslim religious leaders were keen for a solution and the community was prepared to handover the disputed site in Ayodhya to Hindu religious heads but not to political organisations.
