New Delhi, June 11: Taking strong exception to the inclusion of some Muslim communities in the Central OBC list, VHP today charged the BJP-led government with resorting to politics of appeasement and threatened to oppose the move. Describing the Union Cabinet decision of June five as "immoral and unconstitutional", VHP central secretary Surendra Jain told reporters here, "Muslims claim there is no discrimination among them and all of them are equal. If they accept these reservations, it would be totally wrong and prove the hollowness of their claim of equality." "The decision also indicates that the government is pursuing appeasement of Muslims, which is totally unacceptable. We will oppose it in a democratic way," he said. Jain, however, fumbled when informed that the Muslims have been enjoying the benefits of reservation since the Mandal Commission and that in many states including Kerala and Lakshwadweep, some sections of the community has been declared as Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The VHP leader said his outfit had no objection about reports of mass conversion of Dalits to Buddhism in Gujarat as "they were part of Hindus and had firm roots in India." On the recent statement by some kar sewaks that BJP leader and now Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani had instigated them to demolish the disputed structure at Ayodhya, senior VHP leader Acharya Giriraj Kishore said: "Of the five one is a pujari of the temple who was removed by the government. The rest four are from Shiv Sena." He also claimed that the pujari met him and clarified that his name was also quoted by papers though he just happened to stand with them. Bureau Report
