Guntur (AP), Jan 02: Naxalites of outlawed People's War Group (PWG) kidnapped four Andhra Pradesh government officials in the district today, police said. Ten government officials were proceeding to Kollapur village in three jeeps to conduct "Gramsabha" as part of the state government's 10-day Janamabhoomi programme. Police said about 10 armed naxals intercepted the convoy about 10 kms from the village and asked the occupants to get down before setting the jeeps ablaze. The ultras then took the officials to a nearby hillock and forced them to disclose their identity.


The Mandal revenue officer Johan Samadhanam, Babu Naik, Veternarian Srinivas Naik and his assistant Das were directed to stay back, while the others were set free, police said.
Police have launched a massive operation to rescue the officials.
