Italian President to receive international disability award
New York, Nov 15: Italian President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi will receive the international disability award next week at the United Nations in New York for his country`s efforts to improve the lives of people with disabilities.

of people with disabilities.
The ceremony on Monday at UN headquarters will be attended by UN
officials ''superman'' actor Christopher Reeve, the vice chairman
of the National Organization on Disability in the United States and
David A Roosevelt, great-grandson of US president Franklin
D Roosevelt.
The award is issued by the Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt Institute and the World Committee on Disability. It includes a bust of former president Roosevelt, who was disabled , a check for USD 50,000 and 1,000 wheelchairs for Italians with mobility impairments.
