In a major encounter, security forces killed nine militants during a raid on their hideout in the border district of Kupwara in north Kashmir early on Friday, a defence spokesman said.
Troops of Rashtriya Rifles, acting on a specific information, raided a hideout in Langate area, 80 kms from Srinagar, they said adding in the gunbattle, the militants were killed.
Bodies of the militants have been recovered and are being identified, he added.
