Two Norwegian peace mediators met with the Sri Lankan President and the Prime Minister and discussed a draft agreement for a long-term truce between the government and Tamil Tiger rebels, officials said Friday. The Norwegians were expected to hold more talks with government officials later Friday.

The draft agreement will be completed, depending on the progress made in the discussions, state-run radio said.
"Norway will continue to assist the parties in the process, but has no positions as regards substantive elements of a future negotiated settlement between the parties," the Norwegian Embassy said in a statement in Colombo. Bureau Report
