Los Angeles: Actor Bill Paxton is in negotiations to join Tom Hanks, Emma Watson and John Boyega in the upcoming feature adaptation of Dave Eggers' novel "The Circle".
James Ponsoldt, of "The Spectacular Now" fame, is writing and directing the film, reported Entertainment Weekly.
Eggers' novel focuses on a young woman who is hired for a big job at an online monopoly called the Circle, which links users' personal emails, social media, banking and purchasing with a universal operating system.
The novel turns into a thriller about the perils of life in a digital age where privacy is obsolete.
Paxton, 60, was most recently seen in "Million Dollar Arm", "Edge of Tomorrow" and "Nightcrawler". He also starred on the History Channel mini-series "Texas Rising" and the BBC TV movie "The GameChangers" with Daniel Radcliffe.
The film is produced by Hanks and Gary Goetzman for Playtone, Anthony Bregman for Likely Story and Ponsoldt.
