The movie's script, written by Nick Yarborough, depicts the final days of Rosemary, the intellectually disabled child who was subjected to a lobotomy at the age of 23 that left her unable to care for herself, reported the Entertainment Weekly.

Rosemary's parents abandoned her after the operation. They hid her from public for decades at an institution in Wisconsin while her siblings became famous for their achievements.

She died of natural causes in 2005 at the age of 86. She was the first child of Joseph and Rose Kennedy to die of natural causes.
