The 32-year-old 'Indian Idol' star made his debut in Bollywood with Yash Raj's 2010 crime-comedy 'Badmaash Company' with Shahid Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Vir Das. That was his only film till the offer for the detective drama came.

"I was getting similar kind of roles after 'Badmaash Company' and I decided not to be a part of these projects. I was a big admirer of Dibakar Banerjee's works and he was always in my wish list to act under him. I feel, no role is small in his film and I feel fortunate to work with him," Chang told PTI.

Set in '40s Kolkata, 'Detective Byomkesh Bakshi' is currently in its post-production stage and chronicles the life of famous sleuth created by writer Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay.

"We wrapped up shooting in May this year. As the film is set in 1940s Kolkata, there are a lot of computer graphics work needed for the film. It narrates the journey of Byomkesh Bakshi before becoming a famous detective," he said.

Meanwhile, Chang, known for his versatility as a singer, dancer and actor, is looking forward to his stint in stunt-based reality show 'Khatron Ke Khiladi 6' with 11 other celebrity contestants.

"I wanted to do something which I haven't done before. I just wanted to prove myself as an all rounder and it's just another aspect of my personality. I always believe that whatever exciting opportunity comes to your way, you should grab it without thinking twice," he said.

The qualified dentist feels that the Colors' show will enable him to evolve as a mentally strong person. "The show needs a lot of physical training. But I feel mental preparation is more needed than physical. I can have all the muscles in the world but if I can't plan my task out then all my muscle power is of no use," Chang said.

With director Rohit Shetty returning as a host, 'Khatron Ke Khiladi' this season has an interesting line up of celebrities including Iqbal Khan, Hussain Kuwajerwala, Rashmi Desai and 'Chak De' star Sagarika Ghatge. "There will be loads of fun with Rohit (Shetty) and other contestants in South Africa. Rohit is a tough taskmaster but at the same time, he is very encouraging. I met earlier with most of the contestants," he said.
