The 44-year-old "Ted" actor confirmed the news himself, reported Aceshowbiz. On being asked if he would return as the leading character for the next "Transformers" movie, Wahlberg firmly confirmed it by saying "yes."

"Iron Man" scribes Art Marcum, Matt Holloway and Ken Nolan have been roped in to pen the script for the sequel to "Age of Extinction".

The film is believed to take place on both earth and in space, as Optimus Prime hunts down the Quintessons. The franchise's director, Michael Bay, is expected to return to helm the project, but nothing has been officially confirmed yet. The movie is scheduled for 2017 release.
