Lahore, Mar 24: Coach John Wright is of the view that winning a series in Pakistan will be a big achievement ''because India has never won it on this land.'' Wright feels that the Indians have performed well in this series so far. ''It is not an ordinary series and also playing in Pakistan puts a lot of pressure on the players, but so far they have withstood (pressure) well.''
''The team needs to focus very strongly on the fast bowling department that requires a lot of attention,'' he said, adding: ''Of course, there are various opinions that India has a tradition of producing world-class spinners, but no one can say about the fast bowlers. I think that the impression has to change and the young fast bowlers have to change this thought process. I am sure the BCCI will take a note of this.'' The coach added that it was important to have a strong bowling line-up. ''After the series, the BCCI will surely review the whole situation. In this context, it is also important to note that former Australian player Bruce Reid has done an excellent job with the Indian team in the four-match test series and BCCI chief (Jagmohan Dalmiya) already has a memorandum for Indian bowling.''
Wright said he has always impressed on the boys that playing for the country is a big achievement. ''I can tolerate lack of performance but I will not tolerate lack of effort. I have no time for people who fail to prepare for an innings and also do not have the energy to sustain a fightback. I have great difficulty with short cuts and cannot compromise on that.''
