Indore, Mar 16: Senior Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Acharya Dharmendra was arrested tonight in Ujjain Railway Station in Madhya Pradesh on charges of making an inflammatory speech at Dewas. The Acharya, who has been touring the area, had addressed a meeting in Dewas -- where he allegedly made the provocative speech. He was arrested under Section 153 (A) of the Indian Penal Code in connection with a case registered against him by the Dewas police, Ujjain Superintendent of Police Upendra Jain told a news agency. Police said Dharmendra had addressed a dharam sabha at Dewas today in the evening where he referred to the Ram Temple and cow slaughter issues and allegedly made objectionable remarks against a certain community. Jain said Acharya Dharmendra had left Dewas before the police could arrest him. On being tipped off by Dewas authorities, police in Indore arrested the VHP leader before he was to board a train at Ujjain station, he added. Acharya Dharmendra has since been taken back to Dewas, Jain said.
