Indian foodgrain output pegged at 211.32 mn tonnes, up 7.8 pc
New Delhi, June 29: India today pegged its foodgrain output at an all time high of 211.32 million tonnes in 2001-02, registering a growth of 7.8 per cent over the previous year`s actual output of 195.92 million tonnes.

The projected output is marginally higher than the previous estimate of 211.17 million tonnes in 2001-02.
While the estimate for wheat has been scaled down to 71.47 million tonnes from 73.53 million tonnes earlier, that of rice has been increased to 91.61 million tonnes from 90.74 million tonnes, according to the fourth advance estimates of the output. Bureau Report
