Bhopal, Mar 11: Appealing to the people of Madhya Pradesh to bear with the power cuts as no state was in a position to sell power, Chief Minister Digvijay Singh today assured that additional 750mw of power would be available to the state by the year end from two projects. "There is shortage of electricity all over the country and therefore no other state is in a position to sell us power, particularly during the peak hours," he said in a statement here. Uniform power cuts were carried out all over the state, Singh said, adding if that was not done, there was a danger of grid breakdown as had happened in July last year.
He, however, assured that the power shortage would not last long as 250 mw of electricity would be available from Indira Sagar project and 500 mw from Birsinghpur plant by the year end.
In addition, the state government had entered into agreements with the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) for purchase of 850 mw of electricity, he said.

The Chief Minister said the state government was at present purchasing about 1200 mw to 1500 mw power at a cost of Rs 200 crore every month.
