Kozhikode, July 04: Major women's organisations today went on a day's fast at Marad, where nine persons were killed in violence on may 2, seeking immediate measures by Kerala government for rehabilitation and restoration of peace in the area. Addressing the gathering P K Sreemathi, MLA, called upon members of all communities and political parties to help in the process of rehabilitation to ensure early return of peace to the affected area.
The government should create necessary ground for restoring normalcy in the area by instilling confidence in the minds of fear-stricken families, particularly those who had fled the area following the clashes, she said.

M K Premajam, MP, former state minister, M T Padma (INC) T K Vishalakshi (Mahila JD), M Ambujam (Kerala Mahila Vedi), K Ajitha (Anweshi) and Arsha Kumari (DYFI) were among the 21 women's organisations participating in the fast.
