Srinagar, Jan 15: In a major seizure, security personnel today recovered 61 Improvised Explosive Devices, meant for disrupting republic day celebrations, from four Hizbul Mujahideen ultras arrested in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said. As many as 400 rounds of ammunition, 100 electric detonators, 33 under-barrel grenade launchers, 10 hand grenades and some incriminating documents were also recovered from the militants arrested during an army operation from Limber, Binjer and Shahkote villages of the district, the sources said.

The militants have been identified as self-styled commander of Hizbul Mujahideen Ghulam Mohammad war alias Mike-Two, Raqib Jan, Ghulam Mohammad Mir alias Haider and Gayassuddin.

During interrogation, the militants disclosed that the outfit had planned a series of explosions on the Republic Day and prepared the IEDs for the purpose, the sources said.

The seizure comes a day after a major haul of 105 kg of RDX, also meant to sabotage republic day functions, in Anantnag district.

Today`s operation was jointly carried out by army and sleuths of counter-intelligence Kashmir.
