Guwahati, Nov 09: Security measures have been tightened in central Assam's Karbi Anglong district in view of the 10-hour district bandh jointly called by CPI-ML and Autonomous State Demand Committee (Progressive) tomorrow. Security forces have been deployed in the vital installations and patrolling stepped up in sensitive areas, official sources said today.
The bandh has been called to protest the abduction of eight persons and torching of 12 houses by suspected Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) activists in remote Thekerajan of the district on November two.
The Kuki ultras raided the inaccessible Singhasan Hills and kidnapped 28 villagers, 20 of whom were later released.
Meanwhile, the 110 Karbis, sheltered in the relief camp set up at Longlit, returned to their homes with security cover, sources said.
