Thiruvananthapuram, Sept 18: As part of its agitation against the policies of the Union and State governments, the CPI will hold a blockade of Collectorates in all the 14 districts of Kerala today. Announcing this at a press meet here, CPI State Secretary Veliyam Bhargvan said the focus of the protest would be the adverse effects of economic policies pursued by the NDA government at the Centre and the UDF government in the state. The struggle would also highlight the threat to communal harmony posed by the BJP at the national level and the A K Antony government in Kerala, the CPI leader said.

Accusing the Antony government of surrendering to the Sangh Parivar threats on the Marad rehabilitation issue, Bhargavan said the UDF government had become the 'biggest threat' to communal peace in the state. Asked how the CPI could support the congress at the national level, since the two parties were poles apart on economic issues, Bhargavan said his party had made it clear time and again that it would not team up with the congress as a political front. It would only support the congress, where the latter was better equipped to defeat the BJP. On the bickerings in the state congress in the Ernakulam by-poll context, the CPI leader said the problems were enforced by Antony, who wanted 'to bring the entire party under his feet.'
