Shajapur, June 17: Madhya Pradesh BJP today said the party was seriously in favour of implementing reservation on economic basis in the country. "A committee has been set up in this regard which would discuss the issue with various political parties and try to arrive at a consensus on it," party spokesman Kailash Vijayawargiya said here.
"If needed there could be an amendment in the Constitution on the matter," he said. Charging the Madhya Pradesh government with not implementing Centre's various schemes properly and effectively in the state, he said wheat under the multi-purpose `Annapurna scheme' wherein it is sold at Rs two per kg, is not being sold to people living below the poverty line in the state. Vijayawargiya said the state government was deferring this scheme on the excuse that it did not have funds for the transportation of wheat.
There are reports that wheat meant for government schemes had been sold in the open markets in various districts through corrupt officials and sarpanchas, he said and alleged that due to this labourers especially in tribal-dominated areas and Malwa region were forced to migrate in a large number.
