Washington, July 05: President George W Bush has said the United States will not "stand by and wait" to another attack like the September 11 terror strikes, but will be on the offensive against terrorists and outlaw regimes.
"Since that September day we have made our own intentions clear to our enemies. The United States will not stand by and wait to another attack, or trust in the restraint and good intentions of evil men," he said yesterday referring to the 2001 strikes on World Trade Center and Pentagon, in a speech marking Fourth of July, the American Independence Day.
"We are on the offensive against terrorists and all who support them. We will not permit any terrorist group or outlaw regime to threaten us with weapons of mass murder," he said. "By killing innocent Americans, our enemies made their intentions clear to us and we will act whenever it is necessary to protect the lives and the liberty of the American people," said the President.
Bush was speaking at the United States Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio, marking the 100th anniversary of human flight. Ohio is the city where the world's first airplane was built by Wright brothers. "The American declaration of independence, he said, holds a promise for all mankind. Millions across the world are free today because of the unselfish courage of American veterans," Bush said.
"Today, all who live in tyranny and all who yearn for freedom place their hopes in the United States of America," he added. Bureau Report
