Paris, Apr 13: Monaco's 4-2 win over Ajaccio kept the pressure on French League leaders Lyon after Marseille failed to capitalise on a trip to bottom club Troyes. Didier Deschamps' Monaco ran riot in the first half an hour's play yesterday to leave the Corsican Port awash with goals - a perfect riposte to Lyon's 1-0 defeat of Bordeaux on Friday night.

Midfielder Ludovic Guily opened the floodgates, followed by a quick brace from Croatian Dado Prso with the French League's top scorer Shabani Nonda bagging a 26th minute penalty.

Ajaccio, third from bottom, ensured the affair wasn't completely one sided with two second half goals from Martial Robin and Gregory Lacombe. That left Monaco in clear second on 56 points, two behind the reigning champions Lyon with five games to go.

Marseille are placed third, four points adrift, after squandering a golden opportunity in the Loire.
On the back of last week's humbling home defeat at the hands of Guingamp Marseille really needed maxmimum points here to keep the wheels firmly on their title challenge. But with Troyes belying their relegation-bound status this was a frustrating first return to his former club for Marseille coach Alain Perrin.
Sochaux climbed two spots into fifth with a 2-0 success at Montpellier to leave them entertaining realistic hopes of a place in Europe next season while early season leaders nice moved into sixth with a 1-0 verdict over Guy Roux's Auxerre.
