Mumbai, Nov 07: Employees of UTI took to the streets in Mumbai today to protest the fund’s bifurcation. They are demanding a guarantee against retrenchment. They are also pressing the government not to sell the trust to a foreign mutual fund company.

When asked why they did not protest earlier, the employees said they wanted an amicable solution and were forced to take to the streets only after the management turned a deaf ear.
They said that while they had been guaranteed job security, no written assurance has been given to them so far.
Meanwhile, top executives of UTI have said they are holding talks with the employee unions and are hopeful of finding a solution to the problem soon. Bureau Report
