Coimbatore, Nov 20: The GKD memorial gold cup, the seventh leg of the Indian Golf Union's amateur tour, will commence here from November 28. The four-day categorised tournament for amateur golfers from all over the country, will enable them score points for their national rankings, with the winner getting 35 points and the 12th placed golfer being awarded eight points, a press release from the Coimbatore Golf Club said today.
Led by Manav Das and Keshav Mishra, who represented India at the recently concluded Asian Games, the strong field includes Simarjeet Singh, the three-time winner of Sri Lankan open amateur golf championship, H S Kang, Manav Jaini, Chirag Kumar, Jasjit Singh, Vikrant Chopra and a host of young talent from across the country, the release said.
Only 10 golf courses in the country were chosen to conduct this 12-leg tournament and the Coimbatore course was the only one selected in Tamil Nadu, the release said. Bureau Report
