London, June 04: Manchester United chief executive Peter Kenyon has hinted the club has been in talks with Barcelona about the possible transfer of England captain David Beckham.
''I don't want to confirm anything,'' Kenyon told British newspapers today. ''But given that it (the story) has come out in Spain, I don't think you would look stupid writing it.''
Sandro Rosell, a representative of Barcelona presidential candidate Joan Laporta, met Kenyon in London to discuss a 30 million pounds (49 million dollars) deal for Beckham, according to the reports.
Laporta has promised to sign Beckham if he is elected as Barcelona president in club elections on June 15, said the reports.
Beckham has been linked with moves to Real Madrid and AC Milan in recent weeks even though he said last month that he wanted to stay with United.

The midfield player missed England's 2-1 friendly victory over Serbia and Montenegro at Leicester on Tuesday after he broke his hand last month.

Beckham was expected to be in plaster for between six and eight weeks after he fractured the scaphoid bone connecting his right wrist and thumb during the 2-1 friendly win over South Africa in Durban on May 22.
